Term 3 - Co-Curricular Timetable

Click for more information

At Calvary it is an expectation that students are involved in co-curricular or extra curricular activities to ensure that they develop skills and abilities beyond the classroom. Attached is the Term 3 Co-curricular timetable and we ask that parents discuss our co-curricular options with their children and encourage their participation in at least one.

MSS Athletics Carnival

Athletics Carnival Update

Unfortunately, with yesterday’s heavy rain, our oval is once again water-logged and unsafe for us to run our MSS Athletics Carnival tomorrow.

We will ensure that our high performing athletes have opportunities to perform in events that will accumulate their points for end of year awards and age champion achievements. We will run a range of athletic events over the coming weeks (during the course of the normal school day), to provide our students with opportunities to compete. The schedule of these events will be sent to students by the end of next week.

Cafe Specials

Week 3 Specials

Mango Café and Student Cards

Last Term a scanning system was introduced for student purchasing at the Mango Café. Students are required to scan their student ID card to purchase from the Café. This system alleviates the need for cash or a debit card to be carried. The system brings up a photo of the student making the purchase, to ensure the correct card is being used.

Students will not be able to purchase food without their ID card. Student cards can be topped via the MSA portal here.

New ID cards can be purchased from Administration. A replacement fee of $5.00 will be charged.

Pastoral Focus

This week our students explored the difference between sympathy and empathy using a short video from Brene Brown. They learned that sympathy is feeling sorry for someone, while empathy is stepping into their shoes to understand their feelings and perspective. Students discussed real-life examples of how empathy can strengthen relationships, build kindness, and create a more supportive community. We encourage families to continue these conversations at home, asking students how they can show empathy to others in their daily lives. For your convenience a link to the Brene Brown video watched can be found below:

MSS Dance Club

Starting Monday at second break students will be able to participate in a newly established MSS dance club with our dance instructor Ms. Sophie Parker. This club will take place weekly in the dance room.

Book Week

Mrs. Sweasey and the Library monitors are busy finalising their preparations for book week taking place from 18 - 22 August 2025. And one of the events that our MSS students are exceedingly enthusiastic about is the Book Week Dress up, which will take place on Friday 22 August with a parade of all staff and students who have dressed up for the day during a break time. We wanted to provide students and parents sufficient notice to avoid disappointment

Police Visits on Site

The College was recently contacted by the Logan Police department about a new initiative that they will be implementing in Term 3 and possibly extending to Term 4. The initiative will involve Police parking onsite at various school or colleges in the area and engage with P plate and L plate drivers by performing randomised licence inspections and breathalyser tests in a controlled, safe and familiar setting. The College is supporting this initiative as a means of providing our students with an educational experienced aimed at gaining valuable real life experience to prepare them for future interactions with the Police. We will be informing our Middle and Senior School Students about this initiative aimed at educating young drivers during assembly next week Wednesday, 30 July 2024.

Non-Government Schools Census

The census provides information about your school and the number and characteristics of the school’s staff and student body during a specific reference period. The names of students and staff are not collected, apart from the name, position and contact details of the staff member nominated as the primary contact for the census.
