Year 9 Rite of Passage
Tues 3 March 2026
We are pleased to introduce The Rite Journey, a defining and transformational part of the Year 9 experience at Calvary. Delivered as part of our Formation program, this year-long journey recognises Year 9 as a powerful threshold between childhood and young adulthood. During this season, students are growing in independence and capacity, yet still deeply need the guidance, wisdom, and care of the community around them. Grounded in Christian faith and the tradition of a rite of passage, The Rite Journey creates intentional space for reflection, growth, and the formation of character and faith. Year 9 parents and students are asked to join us next Tuesday 3rd of March 2026 for our Departure Ceremony, a significant moment where families are invited to pause together, honour childhood, and mark the beginning of this important journey toward young adulthood.

Head of School Community and Wellbeing Middle and Senior School
Dear Parents and Carers,
Sports Carnivals as points of increased social connection:
As we approach our upcoming Interhouse Swimming Carnival and Cross Country event, I encourage every family to see these days as significant social connection events for our school community. At Calvary we celebrate participation at every level , whether a student is competing, walking the course, or cheering from the side of the pool, each role provides opportunity for connection and bonding.
A student's participation in these events fosters unity, shared identity, and meaningful connection across year levels, building a genuine sense of belonging within the Calvary community. For this reason, we strongly discourage unnecessary absences on carnival days. Even students who do not see themselves as athletes benefit from these shared experiences, which cultivate resilience, house pride, and community spirit in ways that extend beyond the classroom.
Staffing Update from the Principal
Lachlan Gibson concluded his time at the College last week. I appreciate the work that Lachlan has done in taking our Drama department to new heights and through his extensive cocurricular involvement over his time at Calvary. We will miss him.
I am currently working with the team on the arrangements that will be put in place to ensure the smooth preparation and usual high standard of Musical performance to which we have become accustomed. An update will soon be provided to families involved in the Musical.
