National Simultaneous Storytime
Wednesday 21 May
Every year the Australian Library & Information Association invites schools, libraries and the wider community to read together a book, written by an Australian author, to promote the value of reading among junior school age children.
This event will take place at 12pm Wednesday 21 May, with JS teachers engaging their classes by reading the book or via the on-line streaming event.
This year's book is 'The Truck Cat'.

Term 2 Clubs
Co-curricular Clubs
At Calvary, we are committed to educating the whole child, and one way we do this is through our Co-Curricular Program. We encourage all students to get involved by joining at least one co-curricular activity or club. If your child hasn’t signed up yet, we invite you to review the co-curricular timetable together and find an activity that sparks their interest. These opportunities help students grow, connect, and develop new skills beyond the classroom.
We look forward to seeing them thrive in their chosen activities!

Head of Junior School - Zoe O'Donnell
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have celebrated our Vibrant Community over the last week. We hope all our mothers and motherly figures enjoyed the mother’s amazing race. It was so encouraging to see the connection between mothers and their children. The race required team work, communication and a healthy dose of competitive drive. Thank you to our amazing teachers who put their creativity to great use to run each station of the competition.
Today, the whole Junior school was able to enjoy the first performance on the Jungle Book musical. If you don’t have your tickets yet, there’s still time. Please see the link for further information.
Don’t forget that our next round of College Leadership is open for applicants. I am looking forward to speaking with your children about their service leadership in our College.
College Athletics & Cross Country Carnival Update
Following the ongoing and continuing heavy rains, the Carbrook campus oval is far too wet for the required work to be completed to ready it in time for the carnivals proposed for Week 8. I have made the decision to postpone the carnivals to the following dates:
- Junior School Stages 2&3 - Wednesday 23 July (Term 3 Week 2)
- Middle & Senior School Stages 4-6 - Friday 25 July (Term 3 Week 2)
This change means our already postponed Cross Country will be delayed yet again and will take place in Week 3 of Term 4 on Wednesday 22 October.
I apologise for the inconvenience this causes you as you seek to shift your responsibilities to make the time to support your children at these events.
Thank you again for your patience and support as we work through the damage from Cyclone Alfred and ongoing wet weather. I hold on to the promise that once we are through this challenging time our grounds and buildings will be in much better shape than before as we take a ‘no quick fixes’ approach.

Leadership Application #2
Our second round of leadership applications for Stage 2 & 3 students is open. Applications will close at the end of Week 6, Friday 30 May. Students and parents/carers will be notified of the outcome early Week 8. Presentations will be made at our final assembly in Week 9.
Printed application forms will also be available from the Office.
📢 Help Us Choose Our New House Mascots! ⚠️ 🎉
Hey Parents and Carers, it’s that time again... we need your students’ ideas! Our four houses: Flynn, King, Liddell, and Chisholm, are each getting their own official mascots.
Click here to watch the video: CLICK HERE
This won’t replace the existing pillars as they define our house culture, but it’s a chance to add a bit more personality and spirit.
HERE'S HOW THEY CAN GET INVOLVED
🦁 1 - Select their house
🦅 2 - Suggest an animal that captures their house values
🐢 3 - Give it a name
Voting will be open for two weeks, and then we’ll reveal the winning mascots names and animals.

Thanks for encouraging your student to be part of this exciting chapter.
Stay tuned, The Calvary Team
